Most content creators have exceptional talents. Some are comedians, singers, writers, actors, programmers, podcasters, music producers, et cetera.

Passion and creativity are the driving forces that power them on. Unfortunately, they have a sad side of the story. Content creation is not a walk in the park!

Below are some of the challenges that content creators encounter:

1. Risk of Content Misuse

The security of online content may be at risk, especially if their owners fail to control abuse. Importantly, creatives should put enough measures to protect their content against misuse. Companies use Digital Rights Management Systems to curb inappropriate use of their works.

Common abuse includes hacking, cyberbullying, identity theft (impersonation), piracy, and more. Many times, it becomes difficult to track who is misusing your content.

2. Lack of Capital

Inadequate resources or lack of capital affects many content creators. The reason why they will not buy powerful cams for video production is due to lack of funds. So, this pushes them to cheaper and low-quality options.

To create any digital content, you must have or hire tech devices such as:

  • Computers
  • Editing software
  • Powerful Cameras
  • Good Smartphones
  • Podcast Equipment and more

3. Biased Media

Another challenge facing content creators is biased media. Big brands will continue to get engagement, while unknown or upcoming creators continue to struggle. There is a saying that goes – the Rich Gets Richer the Poor Gets Poorer!

This challenge makes most content creators resort to memes, clout-chasing, and influencer marketing. If the weight overwhelms them, they sink or quit! In fact, very few creators try again.

But, how many potential content creators will we continue to lose in this manner?

Most creators encounter obstacles while developing their brands. For instance, marketing is one of the worst nightmares affecting content creators! Still, after completion, you must push the publication harder to attract engagements.

SEO algorithms, Pinterest, and TikTok are probably the only channels trying to address this matter. For example, Pinterest will prioritize your website as a source of valuable information more often as the pins get more likes.

Additionally, it guarantees traffic to your website when users hit your pins. Images give search engines an easier time to “read” and “find.” That might be the reason why Pinterest performs better in this.

I am challenging the tech experts; someone needs to think of an idea that will solve this problem. Maybe, Blockchain Technology will rescue content creators. Everyone deserves a share of the cake!

Some so many underdogs rose to fame through TikTok. Do you agree this issue needs attention?

4. The challenge of Choosing the Appropriate Channels

Surprisingly, there are abundant marketing channels, but choosing the right platforms is a hurdle. Before publishing your content, it is imperative to research where your target audience is. Your content may perform better on Twitter than on Linked In or vice versa. Also, you can try YouTube and study how people interact with your content.

It is also important to measure return on investment (ROI). Do not overspend on a specific digital marketing platform that doesn’t give you engagement!

5. Poor Quality Content

Most creators have creative ideas, but their content is often messy. To avoid terrible output, someone must invest in cutting-edge technology. Just sacrifice to search for reliable hardware and software. Without a doubt, that will help you produce high-quality content!

If you are a writer, always proofread and edit your work before publishing. But, if you do photography, kindly seek an HD phone or camera.

How to Become Successful Content Creators

Successful content creators are consistent. That means they have:

  • Access to resources such as time and exemplary working tools
  • Plenty of ideas
  • Brand identity
  • Networks (for instance, I connect with this expert to get high-quality graphics for content creation)

Final Thoughts!

Most importantly, think of content marketing as a platform to tell your brand story. I understand many content creators struggle to maintain individual brand identities. That makes them shelter under big brands. So, don’t see a content creator and think this man or lady is sitting on dollars. Content creation has its challenges. First, creating that content is not a joke. Marketing it is another hell!
